Philosophy

Information for Prospective Students

The Philosophy Department welcomes majors, minors, double majors and self-designed majors, and is experienced in helping students integrate Philosophy with work in other disciplines.

The department fosters an active student-faculty intellectual community.  We hold monthly "philosophy coffees" where students and faculty discuss topics of philosophical interest to the students informally.  The department sponsors a colloquium series of nationally and internationally known philosophers who interact with students and faculty. The department also supports the entire student-run undergraduate philosophy journal Episteme.

A Major in Philosophy requires ten courses. A minor in Philosophy requires five courses in the department.
