Learning Spaces

What's New?

Through this project, Denison seeks to enhance the appearance, the comfort, and the utility of all campus spaces that are related to learning, including spaces in which learning takes place now, such as classrooms and laboratories, as well as spaces into which learning might be extended, or even spaces that support learning such as resource rooms, common spaces and faculty offices. The Project will consider all aspects of learning spaces, including lighting, furniture and carpet, room layout, technology and multimedia needs, and more, but always with the goal of optimizing the space for learning. This ambitious charter calls for an on-going, funded program driven by student and faculty needs.

The Project is led by a ten member committee. You may communicate with the Committee by sending e-mail to learningspaces@denison.edu.

Priority tasks for the Initiative include

  1. Assess the current state of Denison's learning spaces; gather feedback from faculty and students,
  2. Increase awareness among faculty and students of the ways in which learning spaces can be used and improved,
  3. Define and promote standards for classroom appointments,
  4. Coordinate renovations or improvements and in some cases, provide funding,
  5. Assess enhancements to learning spaces.
